Oh. My. God.
This journey of building our farm house in Portugal is where heaven and earth truly bridged for me – where God made his presence ever so strong. It’s not easy holding a container for seven years where you’re in full-on decision making process. Holding the container for myself, for my marriage, and for us building our house together is a medicine journey in itself. I became a woman in this journey, honestly. Before that I was a full on Boss Babe intertwined with a Bad Ass but the feminine side of me really came out when I started to nest. My feminine side also came out when my husband took the lead in building our home.
I have a new level of confidence, a stronger relationship with God, a stronger marriage, and a nest I get to call home and she’s such a beauty! There were moments, Greg, my husband and I definitely felt we’re biting off more than we can chew. There were low points mixed with blood, sweat and tears literally. The behind the scenes that no one will ever know other than just us is a story in itself. There were moments of arguments, disharmony, and disbelief. And there were moments of being in rhythm, learning how to communicate better, strengthening the container for holding our dreams, love, appreciation, adoration, miracles, beauty, and the glory of God. I’m in full gratitude and reverence for this journey.
Our Origin Story
I used to read the book, “Think and Grow Rich,” by Napolean Hill every Christmas before 2010. It was my yearly bible. Looking back, I wrote in the book my dreams of having a “naturopathic healing sanctuary,” “a farm, community living, a fairytale land, bed and breakfast,” “a castle in a far away beautiful land with mountains and water and beautiful gardens.” I wrote, “I will have my own castle on 14 acres of land and live in a beautiful fairy tale that I create, healing amazing people, and bringing light and love to everyone I meet. I will create a Burning Man castle every day of my life. People will seek me from all over the world.“
Now to be super transparent – the first part of this vision – the farm and bed and breakfast boutique style home – has materialized. The second part – “the castle” – is still unfolding in the ethers as you read this. And, with certainty and conviction, I hold the vision and know that it’s only a matter of time. When I wrote this, I didn’t realize I’d have two dreams in one and this house is the container for the next iteration.
Our biological architect who came with his partner to sleep on our land told us something we will never forget. He said, “You build your first house for your enemies, your second house for your friends, and the third for you.” Well, if that’s the case everyone we come in contact with – is just very lucky. You’re welcome. So friends behold this next iteration of the Glory of God because the next house is for you. And please come visit this first house because in a perfect world, we don’t really believe in having enemies.
My Twin Flame
So with this vision and dream that I held, I met my husband Greg in 2013 who had a similar dream himself. We met through this organization that was building self-sustainable communities all over the world. I was drawn to the project he was working on because structures and communities were built based on sacred geometry, new concepts emerged such as sustainable building practices like hemp, creating energy off water, 3-D printing housing structures, being guardians vs. owners of land, and so much more.
We were on the precipice of this new earth we’ve been dreaming about actualizing in form, congregating more people all over the world with a similar vision, it was really a time of great excitement and I especially wanted to be apart of it on the healing retreat side. As I got involved with the project, I too was able to meet some incredible scientists and black sheep in the community that really shaped what is possible for Earth and humanity at large.
The project we were working on didn’t materialize as quickly as we would’ve hoped so we broke away and set on our own mission to build something of our own.
Super Human Earth
Simultaneously, Greg and I started collaborating on another project together called Super Human Earth (SHE) while we were living in London. It was a brainchild I birthed into form right after I graduated from naturopathic medical school in 2011. I got the download riding my bike one day speaking to my girlfriends on three-way that I’m going to write my first book called, Activating Your Super Human – the Keys to Optimizing Your Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Well-Being.
This book lives in the ethers and has taken many shapes and forms throughout the years. You can find the latest iteration of it on Amazon: Key 1 Reprogramming Your Mind and Key 2 Mastering Yourself. We worked with a guy in Bali who did our branding for SHE, where, “Super Human Earth (SHE) is a conscious collective and curated platform providing the best resources for holistic wisdom and innovative technology to a globally aware audience.”
Oh, Hello Portugal! God’s Country
Before Greg and I moved to London in 2013, our friend Anthony, who introduced us, bought land in Portugal. He too had a dream to live sustainably off the land and create his dream community. Anthony was an ambassador for the New Earth Project and introduced me to my now husband Greg. I am forever grateful to your Anth, thank you.
Anthony asked Greg to help him with his new land and the next thing we know we were packing our bags and living in Portugal for three months. At this time, Portugal was not even on my radar, I’ve never even heard of it. When I got there, we spent the third month driving all over the country and every wrong turn was a right turn, stumbling upon magical castles and monasteries – it captured our hearts.
I really began to understand where the word, “mystical” originated from because Portugal is the epitome of mystical. Needless to say, we fell in love with Portugal and started coming back as often as we could to continue exploring the beauty.
But First, London
After our three moths in Portugal, we moved to London. London was on my list of places to live since the first year I went to Burning Man and met a super cool British crew. Before me and my parents migrated to the U.S. at age six from Bulgaria, we lived in London for six months – we were either going to live in London or the U.S. Thank God we choose the U.S. Yet, I had unfinished business in London and I was yearning to go live out. Sure enough, enter Greg whose home base was London so two manifestations happened here at the same time – meeting my twin flame husband and living in London.
While living in London, Greg and I traveled all over Europe looking for a home base. We knew London was temporary so we travelled to Austria, Belgium, Ibiza, main Spain, Germany, and more. Every place we went, we compared it to Portugal and none came close to it. When we finally settled into our own flat in London, we found some mold in the closet and decided to make some big moves. Living in a moldy home was just not a vibe for me knowing what I know about it. So we packed your bags, put everything in storage, and left!
We decided to spend Christmas in Portugal before heading back to the U.S. We were on a mission to find our home in three weeks – that was our self-imposed timeline, before I had to return to D.C. for work. Forty some houses later with realtors continuing to call non-stop to schedule house tours, time was quickly passing and still no house in sight. We were becoming a little nervous.
God’s Song
With the deadline approaching and no dream house in sight, I specifically remember one night where Greg and I fell asleep in prayer and an innocent child-like spirit. Out of the blue I started singing a song, “God find us a home,” on repeat and Greg started singing with me. Next you thing know we were fast asleep and the next day we completely forgot that we even did that.
Looking back, I really think this song prayer was the turning point because what came after was purely God’s work. We take no credit for God’s magic, God gets all the glory because it’s God’s work. We are just lucky enough to witness miracles in the making. All we get to do is walk the path in trust and watch it all unfold – and it did unfold. It always unfolds perfectly when you walk with God.
The Baptism
When we woke up in the morning the next day, we craved going to our favorite place in Geres where the water is ice cold, especially in December, and the rocks are smoother than a baby’s bottom. We decided to get in the car and drive to Geres for what we called “a baptism.” To set our intentions, purify our souls in the water, and set ourselves straight. What else were two Super Human’s to do? Mind you, I have no religious background whatsoever. Neither does Greg. None of our parents practice any religion. I was never made to go to church or bible study. I’ll dive into my background of finding God and Jesus on another post and I classify myself as “spiritual not religious.”
We set our intentions, we said our prayers and Greg sealed the deal by dunking his head under water. It was so freaking cold! I couldn’t dunk my head under water but I did get in. Greg always dunks his head in spring water no matter the temperature, he’s my hero!
God Is Calling
As we wrapped up our adventure we got back in the car. Out of nowhere, a realtor called asking us if we’re going to make our appointment in an hour to see a house. Greg and I look at each other dumbfounded, none of us made any appointment for that day to see a house. We agreed and drove an hour to meet the realtor.
He took us to a house and in the driveway was the owner’s car who had a huge yin-yang sign on the hood. Greg and I looked at each other, “It’s a sign!” By this time Greg was already deeply immersed into his Qi Gong practices and come to find out that the owner’s son was also teaching and practicing Qi Gong.
Greg and I had a list of what we were looking for in a property. We also had an agreement that, “If it’s not a full body F* Yes, it’s a hell no!” so that was our guiding light.
The List
When you are about to manifest your dream home, you better have a list!
When I met Greg, I called him the “Water Shaman” because he was obsessed with water. He studied the likes of Viktor Schauberger, and worked with Dan Winters and the Super Imploder. We visited the PK Institute in Austria and met with scientists all over the world studying water technology. We would go on adventures looking for natural spring water sources to drink from. So we knew that water and having land with a natural spring water source was very important to us. Water from the land was definitely on the list. We also knew that water was going to eventually be a big commodity in the future and we needed access to good, clean water.
When we lived in Virginia, we found natural springs on www.findapsring.org and filled up on water from different springs. Drinking water from the earth was a game changer for me, my health, and vitality.
Being no further than an hour from the airport was also important to Greg so he can fly in and out with ease, so we drew a circle around Porto airport.
We also knew that we wanted land to farm and grow our own food. Greg loves to garden and is a natural plant whisperer. He has a serious green thumb and grew up with his hands in the dirt. Being a naturopathic doctor, I know the importance of growing our own food and eating off the land. Being a city girl at heart though, I’m also very well aware that the actual manifestation of growing your own food is no walk in the park. Farming even on a small scale takes serious effort. So I knew I was going to have to figure this out in the future because I wasn’t born with a green thumb.
However, nowhere on our list was that the house had to be ready to live in right away. Every house we visited, prior to this one, would’ve needed to be gutted with such expensive renovations that finding a skeleton was actually the best for us.
Angels, please help me come across this original list that we made when we manifested the house, I’d love to frame it.
A Full Body Yes
As we drove up to the house (depending on which side you come from) at first sight it wasn’t anything grand or spectacular. The house in front of us was on two floors with three foot granite stone walls. Until you walk in you don’t understand the magnitude of it. As soon as we walked into the house, there’s an open floor plan of the kitchen, dining room, and living room. There were no walls or partitions inside of the house. The house was just a skeleton made of thick three foot granite stones. My jaw dropped as I walked in because I’ve always loved the idea of an open floor plan and it reminded me of an old barn conversion that is wide and spacious. I feel in love with my vision of having an open floor plan, I could already see it in my mind’s eye.
As the realtor and owner took us around, we found ourselves on a balcony wrapping the inside of the house overlooking a courtyard. Greg captured a photo of me when my jaw dropped and I got the full body F* yes. I’ll never forget the feeling, I just knew it, I felt it in my bones. It was YES!
I had no clue whatsoever how this was going to self-actualize. It felt like we were going to hike Mount Everest. This project scared us as we came to the reality of what it would entail and all the things we didn’t even know we didn’t know. It was big – bigger than going to naturopathic medical school it felt, bigger than graduating, bigger than life itself. But we got the hit, we had the knowing, and all we had to do was trust. God wouldn’t lead us to this and then not hold our hands throughout the whole process. That wouldn’t make any sense.
Plot Twist
The owner really wanted us to buy the house. He even slipped up during conversation with us and said “you’re house.” He liked us and wanted to find owners for his house that were going to appreciate and take care of it in the way that he did. This house was his baby and he had a vision to call it “Bread and Wine.” I mean I was gluten-free at this point so bread was not on my mind!
Before we left he said that if we want the house we need to make an offer right away because a neighbor already put in an offer. If we wanted the house, we had to act quickly. Mind you, I am leaving for the U.S. in a two days. Greg has a modeling job to go to. We don’t have any time to get ourselves together to make an offer.
We met a lawyer at a Christmas party our Portuguese Fairy God Mother threw. Our lawyer needed a week or so to review all the paperwork for the house. She thought the owner was bluffing, but he wasn’t. She advised us to not make an rash decisions. So, I practiced giving it to God. We told the realtor, “If this house is meant for us, it will come back to us.” I had a gut feeling the house will return to us. There’s no point to rush into something so foreign – literally! We needed time to wrap our heads around this new adventure.
Let’s Get Married Instead!
So what did we do next?
Well, on the topic of buying a house together and starting a family, my dad spoke out. He said it was time Greg and I got married. My dad doesn’t ever tell me what to do. He doesn’t meddle in my business. So, when he speaks, I take it to heart and I listen because it’s probably for my own good.
So we did! We basically blew all of our savings that was going to go for the house on getting married instead. We threw a party for our closest people and had a four day wedding. I planned our wedding in three months, I don’t know why, don’t ask me why. The thought of dragging out wedding planning for an entire year didn’t sit right with my generator way of being. I was so busy with work that picking table napkins for a whole year didn’t sound appealing! I didn’t have the capacity for it.
We were super non-conventional about it and it was perfect. Our best friend married us and we had the most unique wedding that was super tailored and customized to us.
The Honeymoon
As I was planning our wedding, we spoke with our astrologer, Andrew. We wanted to know where on Earth Greg and I are to celebrate this divine union and tie the knot. He gave us a specific location – Lanzarote, one of the Canary islands off the coast of West Africa. We decided to have our honeymoon on a Canary island and get married at the Ritz Carlton in Georgetown. It was right across my clinic so I can go there and plan our wedding during my lunch breaks.
While on our honey moon, we just received our Margaritas and Greg’s phone rang. It was our realtor. He said, “Remember when you said that the house was going to come back? Well it’s back on the market again.”
God’s Wedding Gift to Us
Talk about a wedding gift from God! Gulp. The house came back much quicker than we expected and now that we’ve spent all of our money! So, this was going to be interesting! Back to giving it to God and letting God lead the way.
Looking back in hindsight, it really does make sense why we got married so quickly after all.
“God, I don’t know how and I don’t care how, I trust you that you will lead us every step of the way. Give us the strength, the courage, and the perseverance to see this project through. Amen.”
The House of God Was Born
And so the seven year build began. Upon completion, on the seventh year, the house name was given to us during our first summer retreat. The House of God. In honor of God and all of God’s Glory. We couldn’t have done this without God, each other, and our family’s support.
May this story inspire you to keep your dream and your vision alive. It will take as long as it takes, it doesn’t matter how long it takes – it’s divine timing. It always works out.
